JOHN HAIDUK
BIOGRAPHY
John Haiduk, also known as SKRIBBLES, is an abstract expressionist & minimalist in residence at Western Avenue Studios & Lofts (Lowell MA). His work showcases themes of intuition, balance, and permanence. With degrees in mechanical engineering from Manhattan College, John walks the line between technical and creative processes.
His portfolio features black-and-white drawings, paintings, and textured acrylic works. Beyond his artwork, John has organized creative events and community projects that highlight other artists. Additionally, he collaborates with local entrepreneurs and organizations to enhance their operations through workflow development and automation. John's practice reflects his fascination with order and chaos, always seeking unique ways to balance the two.

TIMELINE
In 2017, John (22) began his journey as an artist. He moved from casual scribbling during engineering classes to routine practice. Raised in a creative household, John was inspired by his family’s history of entrepreneurs & artists. His pilot series consisted of a collection of six ballpoint pen drawings, one of which became his most valued work and has since been his logo.
In 2018, John (23) was in his final year of grad school at Manhattan College. He later moved from Washington Township (NJ) to Somerville (MA). He integrated art into his daily routine, often scribbling at local cafes and sharing his work on social media. After beginning a career as an applications engineer at a manufacturing software company, he began volunteering at local art organizations such as Somerville Open Studios and Artisan's Asylum.
In 2019, John (24) offset his work schedule by consistently creating art, volunteering, and collaborating. He moved to Arlington (MA) and would soon have his first solo showing at a local coffee shop.
In 2020, John (25) began the year by participating in his first live painting competition at a local brewery, where he successfully sold two paintings. The pandemic led to a career shift as he joined a virtual events startup, quickly advancing to a senior management position. While balancing remote work with creative pursuits, John's painting style evolved as he focused on larger pieces.
In 2021, John (26) was juried into and later moved to Western Avenue Studios & Lofts in Lowell, MA. By year's end, he was able to participate in his second live painting competition and began planning for future opportunities to showcase his work.
In 2022, John (27) remained dedicated to his art. He focused on live painting, pursuing over 60 demonstrations throughout the year and creating numerous paintings. John became a familiar figure in the local art scene, known as SKRIBBLES, frequently attending events and engaging with other artists.
In 2023, John (28) committed to the path of a full-time artist. He eventually found sustainability by working with Refuge Art School as well as other small businesses located in his studio building. His goal shifted to utilizing his technical and managerial background to support local artists and entrepreneurs.
