John Haiduk, known as SKRIBBLES, is a multidisciplinary artist originally from New Jersey and based at Western Avenue Studios and Lofts in Lowell, Massachusetts. His work spans drawing, writing, painting, coding, and fabrication, including the design of functional objects and digital systems that support his practice. Across all media, his work is driven by a single mission: Create order out of chaos.
Haiduk’s practice grew out of a lifelong habit of scribbling and writing, evolving into self-taught painting grounded in abstraction and improvisation. While continuing to paint, he began applying the same curiosity to coding, drawing on his education in mechanical engineering as a way into system design. His work has since shifted toward intentionally building functional objects from reclaimed materials.
Working and living out of Western Avenue Studios and Lofts in Lowell has directly shaped Haiduk’s practice through both the scale of space available to him and the community of working artists around him. Daily exposure to other artists established a culture of exchange and collaboration that shaped how his work developed. That ecosystem continues to set a higher bar for each body of work while providing opportunities to support his creative community and the next generation of artists working alongside him.
